Assignment Solutions:

Problem Assignments:

There will be weekly homework assignments, consisting of 7 multiple-choice problems and 3 multiple-choice qualitative questions.

Suggested Procedures:

  • keep a separate notebook for your homework
  • solve each problem with a complete written solution, following the methods outlined in the lectures and in the Survival Guide
  • compare your answers with the choices given in the question. If there is a match, then indicate your selection on the Assignment Submission Form. If you do not get a match, you have made a mistake in your solution; you should go back and check your work

Getting Help:

Assistance with the problem assignments can be obtained at the Help Desk or from your professor.

Submission Policies:

  • the assignments are due at 1200 on Fridays
  • late assignments will not be accepted
  • assignments not submitted will receive a mark of zero
  • the responses to the Assignment Submission Form will not be saved

Solutions:

The solutions will be posted to the Phys 111 Website and will remain posted for the duration of the course.  The marks for each assignment will be posted on the website for your section a few days after the due date.

Printing Solutions:

  • All assignment, tutorial, and test solutions are in pdf format.

  • To view the solutions, your browser must have the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in, version 4.0 or newer. (All Arts and Science Computer Lab computers have this plug-in installed.) If you are using an off-campus computer and wish to download the free plug-in, click here to go to Adobe's website. (The file is approximately 4 MB.)

  • It is strongly suggested that you NOT print the pdf files. Note that you can save the pdf file to your home directory (on campus) or your home computer by clicking on the "File" menu of your browser and selecting "Save As ..." while viewing the pdf file. This allows you to view the file at your own convenience. You can also save the file to a floppy for transport from campus to home or vice versa. If you absolutely MUST print the pdf file, carefully read all of the following points.

  • To PRINT the solutions, you MUST use the Print button (the button on the far left side that has a printer icon on it) on the ACROBAT toolbar that appears when the plug-in is loaded. DO NOT use the Print button on your browser toolbar and DO NOT use 'Print' from the 'File' menu or your browser may crash.

  • If you continue to have problems viewing and/or printing solutions, contact the assistant in the computer lab (if on-campus) or contact Brian Zulkoskey at zulkoskey@sask.usask.ca, 966-6439, Rm 115 Physics.
