The Editor's Pageby Dennis DuncanAh, summer! Everyone doffs the garments of daily duties and responsibilities and heads for the beckoning hills and lakes to while away warm, lazy days where the major decision is when to get up. Suntans are carefully cultivated by fearless souls, beards gradually take over the faces of eager pioneers determined to "rough it", gardens are lovingly tended, ice cream is a necessary daily coolant and most people laze around watching clouds instead of clocks.Where has it gone? The cooling mornings warns that winter is starting to creep down upon us, its icy fingers outstretched to grab our attention and other body parts. But put away those proto-winter blues and mukluks! Fencing is about to start! You can tell that interest is returning by the number of submissions that your Editor received. Nothing in June, a few in July and then a rush as Fall and the deadline approached. At this time, I would like to extend special thanks to Robin Massett for the first instalment of "Mask & Blade", the start of a series of information-laden articles he has gleaned from the Internet. Thank you, Robin. I want to thank all of those who took the opportunity to promote their Clubs throughout Saskatchewan. We all have a voice which develops strength the more it is used. Pray continue, please ; it makes my job so much easier. It also helps you, so there are benefits enough to make sure everyone shares in them. Also much appreciated were the humorous submissions from wacky Regina. Who said that sabre goes to your head? Or that "old fogeys" lose their humour at the same rate as their hair? Once again, much thanks to Anna-beth Zulkoskey and John Brunning who made the actual production of this issue go as smoothly as it did. The deadline for submissions to the next issue is noon, October 26, 1996. Early submissions of articles, advertisements and whatnots would be greatly appreciated and highly conducive to my continued mental health, such as it is. Remember: Beat those pesky parries! They're such a darn nuisance! Advance! |
