Lavinia was granted Canadian Citizenship on March 8, 1995. She enjoys playing guitar in her spare time, and also plays handball. She was on her High School Handball team when she was living in Romania. Lavinia has been fencing for 8 years. Lavinia is currently the 4th ranked women's foilist in Canada, and was selected to represent Canada in Women's Foil at the 1995 World Fencing Championships in The Hague, Holland in July, 1995, as well as at the Continental Olympic Qualifier in Venezuela in November 1995.
