Thank you Team Saskatchewan For a Record Setting Games
The excitement and energy you’ve created with your successes
made for a record setting games. Fans watched with interest and cheered
on your efforts this past week. Team Sask pulled together to win a
record 67 medals, surpassing the previous high of 52 set at the 2001
Games in London. The new standard was achieved with the help of record
totals from canoeing (20) and athletics (18) and the first ever medals
for female wrestling (9). Congratulations to all.
At a July 26th press conference, you were introduced to our
province as the “Home Team” for the 2005 Jeux du Canada Games. You were
encouraged to represent your province with pride and compete to the
best of your ability. I thank you for accomplishing both those goals.
The memories generated over the past two weeks will last a
lifetime. Whether you continue to pursue your Olympic dream, or move on
to other life goals, take this experience as a highlight in your life.
Good luck in all future endeavours and have a safe journey home.
