January - Session 1: The Discovery Phase - Self-Assessment
In this first session, participants will tackle the first and perhaps the most important career task by identifying their personality characteristics, their work "likes", "dislikes" and preferences, and the skills they "can do", "will do" and how these skills "fit in" with the needs of the workplace and with the individual's "motivators". Participants will develop success ("proud") stories that will demonstrate the skills they have, how they were used and the outcome or effect the use of these skills had on their job. These stories will be the basis of future oral and written communication.

February - Session 2: The Direction Phase - Resumes and References
The new world of work demands new and different skills, and a new way of getting these skills across to the decision-makers (the people who hire). The Resume is the "calling card" and will determine whether you get to the next stage - the interview.

March - Session 3: The Discussion Phase - Networking and the Hidden Job Market
The ability to let people know who you are, what you can do and what you are after is critical in today's job market. Networking means putting out "feelers" and information that others can pass along to the people who have the "right fit" job for you. Communication is about more than just being able to talk or write, it is about developing a confident, convincing and flexible style that will appeal to a audience.

April - Session 4: The Discussion Phase - Interviewing
The most difficult and under-prepared part of career development is the interview, and in this final session, individuals will identify and practice interviewing techniques and skills that will develop self-confidence. Role play, observation and feedback will form the major portion of this session - a great preparation for the real thing.
