“I feel really fantasic,” said Yanik. “It’s my first time
coming to the championships. It’s definitely a big
accomplishment for me,” she said.
“When Viola hit that nice knee pick right off the top of the
match I knew she was dialed in and ready to go,” said women’s
coach Leigh Verling. “It made a big difference it gave her
confidence for the rest of the match. It’s a combination of a
lot of hard work, I’m really proud of her.”
Yanik said her experience in New York has been overwhelming.
“Standing on a mat in Madison Square Garden with thousands of
spectators is really overwhelming. But, it’s a fantastic
experience and a chance of a lifetime,” she continued.
