2008 Team Sask Bantam Girls win Bronze at Nationals Shayla Shahsavar (Cardinal AAA Bantam) pitched the opening game against BC. "It was 0-0 going into
the top of the seventh inning between British Columbia and
Saskatchewan when BC scored four runs in the inning and would hold on
for the 4-0 win... Shayla Shahsavar (Saskatoon,SK) was outstanding in
a losing cause, throwing the complete game and allowing the four runs,
two earned, on six hits and one walk. Shahsavar would also collect an
impressive 13 strikeouts." Chelsea Wicks (Cardinal AAA Bantam) was the
closing pitcher in a 8-4 win over host team Lanaudiere. In the third
game, against Alberta, starter Chelsea Wicks got the win, pitching 4
innings with 5 hits, 1 earned run. Saskatchewan won 4-2. Shayla
Shahsavar threw a complete game against Ontario with 3 earned runs, 1
walk and 14 strikeouts for a 7-5 win. Team Sask lost the cross-over
game against Quebec but came up big with a 13-3 win over Nova Scotia
for the Bronze Medal. (BC won Gold and Quebec Silver.) |
